Kehytiimi - The development team

The kehytiimi consists of students that are interested in development cooperation matters. They do volunteer work for TUO’s Green village project. Kehytiimi organises various events, gives out information about the project and encourages people to join the team. What the members of Kehytiimi have in common is an interest and enthusiasm towards development cooperation. The leader of Kehytiimi is project secretary Laura Ronkainen.

Kehytiimi organises twice a year a Green Village club event, which is a fund raising gig for the project. Kehytiimi also gives information about the project in various events and organises info days. The team also arranges more casual evening get togethers where the team members can get to know each other, eat well and ponder upon important matters. Come meet the Kehytiimi for example to “Mahdollisuuksien tori” (the market of possibilities) or contact Laura to find out when the next meeting is held.

By joining Kehytiimi you can also get study points because participating in the team is a part of “Johdatus kansalaislähtöiseen kehitysyhteistyöhön” - course. So come along and join Kehytiimi, it is for a good cause. You can also meet interesting people while getting valuable work experience. More information from Laura.

Green Village club

Twice a year the Kehytiimi arranges an amazing support gig where funds are raised for the Green village project and information about the project is available to those interested. The gig is held traditionally at Dynamo where the casual atmosphere is excellent for getting to know the project and for meeting people of a like mind. The first club gig was held in May of 2008. It was a great success so more fun is to come.<

The gigs arranged previously

· 22.4.2009
Ville Leinonen, Monitors alive, Delicious Orange, Kalkitos + DJ Kimito Diskotek

· 6.11.2008
Wojchiech, Jaakko & Jay + Midnight Tea Party

· 28.5.2008
The Crash (unplugged duo), Bridget, Daisy (naked), Traffic Island + DJ Fog

Kehypäivä - Development day

Once a year a Kehypäivä is arranged. The point of this is to spread information about the situation of developing countries and of the Green Village project to those interested. The Kehypäivä of 2008 was arranged in the hall of Sepänkatu where curious people could get to know the projects of the university of applied sciences, to enjoy the climate change and development exhibition (Ilmastonmuutos ja kehitys -näyttely), and to have a cup of Fair Trade coffee. The event is arranged by Kehytiimi.

Other development cooperation actives from Turku are invited to Kehypäivä. In 2008 these were the Taf taf -project of the Turku Artists’ association that functions in Senegal and Dodo’s Sinsibere -project which functions in Mali. In the future we aim to broaden the event, so if you know an organisation that would be interested in presenting their activities contact the project secretary.

Mahdollisuuksien tori - the market of possibilities

Mahdollisuuksien tori is an annual event that is arranged in various locations all around Finland. On these markets various organisations come together to tell about their activities and to give out information for example about human rights, equality, cultures, organic farming and Fair Trade. Development cooperation is strongly represented, so you can find us from the Mahdollisuuksien tori of Turku, presenting our Green Village -project.
